Words!

Porter is getting louder and louder by the minute.  He's on the verge of talking, talking, talking.  He says Hi, Bye Bye, "No", Doggy, Mama, Dada, Night Night, Box, Baba (bottle), snack, and truck.  When he says Night Night.. I think it might just be the cutest thing I've ever heard in my life.  This soft little voice.. it's like decedent warm melted chocolate.

He loves to chase Carter-Grace around the house.. poor dog.. I know she keeps looking at us like.. what were you thinking!  He loves to give his dogie hugs.. although.. Carter isn't a fan.  Carter just tolerates him.  Hopefully, one day they will be best friends.

We camped again this weekend.  We camp outside of the town were I grew up... so I know most of the people camping or they know my family.  Everyone was so fascinated with Porter.. mostly the kids.  The girls would surround Porter and tried endlessly to become his friend.  Normally, Porter turns on the charm, but I think he was just a little overwhelmed with the new surroundings.  He did finally warm up to a couple of them.  These girls tried, and tried.. I felt so bad that he would shut them down.

One of my daughter's friends asked if we got to name Porter.  I said.. YES, we did.  Then I said, "fantastic question, if you have more, let me know, I'm always excited to talk about our process and how Porter came in our lives."  I soon had about 6 little girls around me asking all kinds of questions from what his room looked like, to where he was born, to what happened to his birth parents.  We sat in the grass and talked about everything.  What we saw in Ethiopia, how they lived.  I explained if they lived in Ethiopia, what they would be doing.  They wouldn't be riding their bikes, they would be getting water, carrying their siblings on their backs, and gathering firewood.  I told them about the goat herds in town, and how there aren't very many doctors, or money to be treated, if you get sick.

I can't find the words right now to explain what talking about Ethiopia means to me.. I guess maybe I'm still figuring it out myself.  I love to talk about it.. and I love to answer people's questions about it.  People are curious, and I understand that.

Also, in other Ethiopia adoption news.. there has been even more changes with the adoption process with Ethiopia.  Every time I hear of one, I can't help but, think how fortunate we were that things went so smoothly.  Porter was meant to be in our lives.  Our lives are complete and hearts are full.
